I Zoi en Tafo

A rendition of the greek orthodox lament for Christ, typically performed on holy Friday by two female choirs chanting in dialogue around an elaborate floral structure representing the tomb of Christ–the only orthodox service traditionally carried out by women. Originally recorded and released in Easter 2020 and subsequently featured in the Waves & Rituals audio series by mother tongues, an interdisciplinary and research-led project applying decolonial, feminist and queer theory in exploring language and identity.
